jmchds13@gmail.com 0 Posted October 31, 2018 Howdy, Thanks for taking the time to read and answer these questions. Sorry, I don't want to leave money on the table. My wife's on SSDI. Can I get a spousal benefit for her early at 64 years of age? How early can I get it? Would it be affected by my salary/how much I can earn? Thanks again. jmchds13
Devin Carroll 1 Posted November 1, 2018 Are you wanting to get a spousal benefit based on her work or the other way around?
jmchds13@gmail.com 0 Posted November 10, 2018 Yes, on her work record. Thank you.
Devin Carroll 1 Posted November 10, 2018 Yes to both. You could get a spousal benefit since your wife is on SSDI. However, if your own benefit is higher you'll simply receive that instead. There's no way to selectively file for spousal benefits only. If you file for any benefits before your full retirement age, the earnings limit will apply ($17,640 in 2019).
