I am a new subscriber and want to know if I have to pay tax on my SS benfits. Have not worked since 2014 as i was downsized. Husband is still working and claims me as a dependant. Devin Carroll 1 Posted November 18, 2018 Up to 85% of your Social Security benefit could be counted as taxable income. How much depends on a measure they call "provisional income" which is basically all of your other income.
