Dan 0 Posted October 25, 2018 Hello - I'm currently 67 years old and plan on working till I'm 70 to max out SS benefits. My wife is 60 ( not working) and has her own benefits which she plans on taking at 62 because of our financial situation. Just want to know if I'm missing anything here strategy wise when doing this. Devin Carroll 1 Posted October 28, 2018 Without knowing your entire situation it's difficult to know if you should do something different, but looking at the information you gave there's one small tweak I'd probably make. As soon as your wife files for her benefits you may want to consider filing a restricted application for spousal benefits only. Since you were born Jan. 1, 1954 you can still use this strategy. This way, the benefits from your work history would continue to increase and you could simply switch over to them at your age 70.
